Located in the Miriki Valley at an altitude of 1100 metres, Singbulli is one of the top Darjeeling estates, on the road from Silguri to Darjeeling. The estate covers 750 hectares at an altitude of 1100 metres, producing around 200 tonnes of tea a year (but only a tiny part of that goes into this Darjeeling Oolong). Oolong is traditionally associated with Taiwan, but some Darjeeling gardens (Namring, Singbulli, Balasun, Poobong) have been producing Oolong tea since the 1990s. The ideal conditions for gardens capable of producing Darjeeling Oolongs are carefully regulated - for example the garden should be located above 1000 metres, among other criteria. This Sinbulli Darjeeling Oolong is an exceptional tea from one of the most famous gardens of Darjeeling. It is pretty rare, with just a few kilograms harvested each year. With its large, brown leaves, multiple tips, and its second flush character, this is a dusky, mature, but also pleasantly fruity variation on Oolong tea. Formidable. [BFL90867]
