A top quality tea with fine flavour and natural sweetness. Keemun is grown in Anhui Province in China. It is a ‘gongfu’ or ‘congou’ tea, meaning that it is made with careful skill (‘gongfu’) to produce thin tight strips without breaking the leaves.

Anhui province in eastern China, taking its name from a combination of two cities in Anhui: Anqing and Huizhou. Anhui is a poor province, even by Chinese standards, with an annual per capita GDP of £700. Anhui’s mountains lie to the south of the province, including the Dabie Mountains and the incredibly atmospheric Huangshan Mountains (which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site) – southern Anhui also sees the Yangtze flowing through it. The north of the province is flat and thus less suitable for growing tea. [BS1038]
